Home to the largest young population in the world: 50% percent under the age of 25 years (560 million) and 85% under 50 years (904 million). 35 cities have more than 1 million inhabitants. India has two national languages: Hindi and English (associate official). The Indian Constitution also officially recognizes 17 regional languages. With over 380 universities, 11 200 colleges and 1500 research institutions, India has the second largest pool of scientists and engineers in the world.
